For the near future, models consistently project lower shares of CCS coupled to biomass and much of the biomass use is not combined with CCS (Fig. 7 ). WebBioenergy with CCS/CCU and DAC together account for 25% of all the CO 2 cumulatively captured to 2070. Of all the CO 2 captured by the two technologies, around 48 Gt, or 78%, is stored permanently and so counts as carbon removal. Captured and stored volumes reach around 2.7 Gt for BECCS and almost 0.3 Gt for DACS in 2070.
