Hadji Ali, called Hi Jolly, was brought into this country to look after 75 camels used by the army in the southwest. The experiment failed because the sand was coarse and cut the camel's feet. WebAlthough the program was cancelled, Hadji Ali (also known as Hi Jolly) stayed on and spent the rest of his life at Quartzsite.
